About

Hi, I’m Deirdre and I am a qualified Birth Doula based in Co. Donegal, Ireland. I provide parents with information as well as physical and emotional support during labour to help them feel confident and safe, which enables them to feel less afraid about their birth experience

Birthing and Bonding Education

new baby

Birthing Education

These sessions are aimed at helping you to understand the birthing process, working on coping techniques with your birth partner, and shortening your labour. They are usually tailored to individual needs, for example if your baby’s breech. These classes form part of our meetings when you hire me as your Birth Doula.

Breastfeeding-a-newborn

Breastfeeding Education

Doula Dee’s Antenatal Breastfeeding Class doesn’t cover the ‘benefits of breastfeeding’. What it does cover though is the practicalities of life with a newborn. We talk about normal newborn behaviour, how to get more sleep, how often babies feed, nappy output. We cover breastfeeding positions, latch and attachment, how to know they’re getting enough, and what to do when it’s all going wrong. Because there may be days you feel that way. Real life, Real practical information. Book Here.

Cafe Noir & Fuchia Pouch

Babywearing Education

Slings offer increased physical contact between the child and their caregiver which in turn increases the bonding experience. Babies who are carried in a sling tend to sleep better at night. There are also many practical benefits such as, being able to move about the house while baby is happily secured to your chest, easier shopping trips, off road walks are easily accessible, and better posture is experienced by the wearer as they don’t have to carry the child on their hip, or in the car seat which is only going to get heavier.
